Washington, D.C. — During the April recess period, Congressional Progressive Caucus members are traveling to Republican-represented districts to hear from constituents of GOP members of Congress who are refusing to meet with the people they represent. Multiple other Members will host events in blue districts to rally supporters and build energy among the Democratic base.
Rep. Greg Casar announced the ‘Democrats Show Up’ campaign in March on MSNBC. While Republicans have been told not to hold town halls, Progressive Caucus members are fanning out across the country to hear from people concerned about cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security.
On Saturday, April 19th, Rep. Greg Casar will travel to a town hall in Texas’ 10th district.
On Monday, April 21st, Rep. Ro Khanna will travel to a town hall in New Jersey’s 7th district. Rep. Yassamin Ansari will travel to a town hall in Arizona’s 1st district.
On Thursday, April 24th, Rep. Greg Casar will travel to a town hall in Denver, Colorado, in GOP Rep. Gabe Evans’ district (CO-8). Rep. Maxwell Frost and Senator Chris Murphy will travel to a town hall in North Carolina’s 9th district the same day.
On Friday, April 25th, Rep. Ro Khanna will travel to a town hall in Nebraska.
Last week, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Pramila Jayapal, Ro Khanna and Joaquin Castro attended packed Democrats Show Up events across both red and blue districts. Rep. Pramila Jayapal also hosted a Resistance Lab training attended by more than 2,000 participants.
Reps. Casar, Frost, Robert Garcia, Mark Pocan, Jamie Raskin, Ro Khanna, Nanette Barragán and Bonnie Watson Coleman also held widely attended Democrats Show Up town halls in late March.
