WASHINGTON — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC released the following statement following the conclusion of the Missouri First Congressional District primary.
“MAGA megadonors and corporate Super PACs spent over $13 million against Congresswoman Cori Bush, a progressive leader who has lived the realities of working-class people she represents, because they are threatened by the political power of progressive champions of the working class. This right-wing financial juggernaut is bad for American democracy and another vivid episode of the wreckage that Citizens United has inflicted on American politics,” said Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC Co-Chairs Mark Pocan, Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin. “As Democrats have rallied for progressive change in the Biden-Harris administration and elected more bold progressive leaders, Republican billionaires and corporate interests have deployed massive amounts of big money to hold onto their power. Despite this right-wing reaction, we are proud to have already helped several new progressive candidates win their primaries this cycle and remain committed to electing more bold progressive leaders to build the enduring power of our multiracial, working-class, grassroots movement.”
