WASHINGTON — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC announced additional new roles on its leadership team, appointing Rep. Lateefah Simon (CA-12) as National Finance Chair and Rep. Robert Garcia (CA-42) as National Recruitment Chair.

“I’m proud to take on a leadership role to bolster what has always been a people-powered electoral operation, dedicated to electing progressives across the country,” said Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC National Finance Chair Lateefah Simon. “As National Finance Chair, I will ensure that the CPC PAC is equipped to identify progressive candidates in key districts and support them with the resources they need to win their elections, build a stronger progressive coalition in Congress, and take back the House majority.”

“I’m excited to begin the work of cultivating the next generation of progressive leadership in Congress,” said Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC National Recruitment Chair Robert Garcia. “This cycle, we will work vigorously to defend our caucus members and recruit new members who can win their districts and help us win a strong majority in Congress. We are scouting community leaders and working-class champions who are ready to campaign and win on a bold progressive agenda that puts people first.”

“The CPC PAC has helped elect thirty-four new progressive candidates like Reps. Simon and Garcia to Congress over the past three election cycles. Due to their leadership, the CPC PAC will be an even more powerful force for change in the years to come,” said Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC Co-Chairs Pramila Jayapal, Greg Casar and Maxwell Frost. “This cycle, we will maintain a sharp focus on early recruitment of high-quality and diverse candidates, aggressive fundraising that enables our candidates to effectively deliver their message, and supporting their campaigns from the primary through the general election and the inauguration of a Democratic House majority in January 2027.”

Rep. Lateefah Simon was sworn in as the representative for California’s 12th Congressional District earlier this month. Simon is a longtime organizer and MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient who has been a leading voice on civil rights and racial justice for over a quarter-century.  As someone born visually impaired and who relies on public transportation, she has also championed making transit more affordable for working people and served as an elected member of the Bay Area Rapid Transit board before joining Congress.

Rep. Robert Garcia has represented California’s 42nd Congressional District since 2023. The first Peruvian-American ever elected to Congress, Garcia was previously the two-term mayor of Long Beach, where he helped establish the city’s first universal basic income pilot program, launched free community college programs, enacted a $15 minimum wage and delivered a robust and equitable public health response during the pandemic.

Over the past three election cycles, the CPC PAC has raised over $13 million and invested in progressive candidates across the country. Over the decade, a majority of CPC PAC’s pre-primary endorsements have gone on to win their race in the general election. In 2024, the CPC was the only ideological caucus to send new members to Congress in 50% or more of races in which its affiliated PAC made a pre-primary endorsement.
