Washington — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) announced it has endorsed Sam Forstag in the June 2nd primary election for Montana’s 1st Congressional District.

“Smokejumper, organizer and union leader Sam Forstag is a working-class champion running on a bold vision to ensure that all Montanans are able to secure a basic level of housing, childcare and health care,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Pramila Jayapal, Greg Casar and Maxwell Frost. “Sam’s campaign offers working-class Montanans the opportunity to send one of their own to Congress and elect an advocate who will fight to take on the status quo and build an economy for working people. We are excited to endorse Sam and elect a champion for everyday Montanans to Congress.”

“Last election, a whole lot of working people, union members and young people voted Republican or stayed home because they felt left behind by both parties. Whether it’s Ryan Zinke slashing health care while he gets millions of dollars richer, or a political establishment that leaves us choosing between one millionaire and another while the rest of us fall further behind,” said Sam Forstag. “We don’t earn working people’s support with more of the same. We earn it by letting working people speak for ourselves and by fighting for the bold, direct policies that we need to finally fix the systems of housing, health care and childcare that have become too expensive for so many of us to afford. I’m proud to have the support of leaders who are fighting for the sorts of policies that we need to fix this thing.”

Over the past three election cycles, the CPC PAC has raised over $13 million and invested in progressive candidates across the country. Over the decade, a majority of CPC PAC’s pre-primary endorsements have gone on to win their race in the general election. In 2024, the CPC was the only ideological caucus to send new members to Congress in 50% or more of races in which its affiliated PAC made a pre-primary endorsement.
