Washington — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) announced it has endorsed state Senator Aisha Wahab in the June 2nd primary election for California’s 14th Congressional District.

“California state Senator & Assistant Majority Leader Aisha Wahab has broken barriers as the first Afghan-American woman elected to any public office in the United States,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Pramila Jayapal, Greg Casar and Maxwell Frost. “In the California Senate, Aisha has been a leader in fighting for tenant rights, expanding health care access, lowering the cost of living and taking on corporate monopolies and powerful interests on behalf of working-class Californians.  In Congress, Aisha will be a champion for expanded union rights, Medicare for All, housing for all, debt-free public higher education and a Green New Deal. Aisha is a proven progressive leader who gets things done and we are excited to endorse her campaign.”

“I’m proud to receive this endorsement because it shows our campaign is about the people—not the powerful,” said Aisha Wahab. “I’ll keep working every day to lower costs, protect families, and deliver for the community.”

Over the past three election cycles, the CPC PAC has raised over $13 million and invested in progressive candidates across the country. Over the decade, a majority of CPC PAC’s pre-primary endorsements have gone on to win their race in the general election. In 2024, the CPC was the only ideological caucus to send new members to Congress in 50% or more of races in which its affiliated PAC made a pre-primary endorsement.
