WASHINGTON — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) announced its endorsement of former Arizona Senate Minority Leader Raquel Terán in the primary for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.

Terán, who would be Arizona’s first Latina congresswoman, was born in Douglas, Arizona, and raised on the street that divides the United States and Mexico. Terán has served Arizona as an organizer for Mi Familia Vota and UFCW, as a legislator in the state House and state Senate, and as the leader of the Arizona Democratic Party’s successful midterm campaign.

“Raquel Terán has been on the frontline of the fight for justice in Arizona for over a decade and a half,” said Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC Co-Chairs Reps. Mark Pocan, Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin. “A prolific advocate for immigrant rights and true movement builder, Raquel has been a leader in taking on and defeating bigotry at every turn, from Russell Pearce and Joe Arpaio to Kari Lake and Donald Trump. Raquel helped increase the minimum wage and ensure paid sick leave as a state legislator and will fight for a green future and universal health care on the national level. Congress needs Raquel’s proven progressive leadership and we are very proud to endorse her campaign.”

“The Congressional Progressive Caucus is fighting every day to make the lives of working families better—I’m truly honored to earn the CPC PAC’s support for our campaign. Together we are building a coalition of support that the voters of District 3 can be proud of,” said Raquel Terán. “For almost two decades, I have worked for progressive change in Arizona as an activist, a state Senator, and as chair of the Arizona Democratic Party—creating progressive change at every step of the way. In Congress, I will continue the fight for progressive change, supporting hard-working families and creating new and equitable opportunities for all, regardless of background.”

The CPC PAC is the political arm of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the largest Democratic ideological caucus. The CPC PAC exists to elect strong progressive leaders to Congress who share our vision for America’s future and will embody the present and future of the progressive movement. In the 2022 cycle, the CPC PAC raised over $4 million and helped to elect 17 new members to Congress.
