WASHINGTON — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) announced it has endorsed Mondaire Jones for New York’s 17th Congressional District.

“A first-class lawyer, born organizer and relentless champion for the common good, Mondaire Jones is a game changer for progressive politics in Congress. He made history as the first openly gay Black member of Congress, rolled up his sleeves and became the most legislatively active first-term member of Congress,” said Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC Co-Chair Jamie Raskin. “Mondaire quickly became a celebrated colleague, a reliable leader on behalf of working people, and a fighter for civil rights, lower prescription drug prices, and legislation to stop members of Congress from trading stocks. Mondaire knows how to deliver progress for the American people every day and we are proud to back his campaign.”

“I’m grateful for the broad-based support our campaign has received within and outside of the Democratic Party,” said Mondaire Jones. “Today’s endorsement by the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC is another data point. Last term, the Congressional Progressive Caucus played a leading role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the cost of prescription drugs for seniors on Medicare and took the largest climate action in our nation’s history. The former oil and gas lobbyist and now Congressman, Mike Lawler, opposed the Inflation Reduction Act as a candidate and has tried to unravel it. He would have our seniors pay more for prescription drugs and exacerbate the climate crisis that floods our communities here in the lower Hudson Valley.”

The CPC PAC is the political arm of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the largest Democratic ideological caucus, and exists to elect strong progressive leaders to Congress who share our vision for America’s future and will embody the present and future of the progressive movement. In the 2022 cycle, the CPC PAC raised over $4 million and helped to elect 17 new members to Congress.
