[WASHINGTON, DC] – The Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC today announced its endorsement of Karen Carter Peterson for Louisiana’s 2nd congressional district.

Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC Co-Chairs Pramila Jayapal, Mark Pocan, and Jamie Raskin released the following statement:

“As the devastating COVID-19 crisis continues, it’s clearer than ever that we need more leaders in Washington who will fight for bold action like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, criminal justice reform, and real, lasting solutions to poverty like a $15 minimum wage.

“Karen Carter Peterson is exactly the kind of fearless leader we need because she’s already spent years at the forefront fighting for working families and progressive change across Louisiana. She’ll be an ally in our shared struggle for progress, justice, opportunity, and equality — and we’re proud to throw our support behind her in this race.”

“I’m honored to have the support of these progressive leaders in Congress,” Sen. Karen Carter Peterson said. “During this crisis, we need a strong Congressional Progressive Caucus fighting for a just economic recovery that doesn’t leave working families and small businesses behind. I’m looking forward to serving alongside them to speak truth to power, take bold action, and get things done for Louisiana’s Second Congressional District.”

Carter Peterson is the CPC PAC’s first endorsement of the 2022 election cycle. In 2020, the PAC raised $4.4 million and launched its first-ever independent expenditure arm, helping elect 8 new candidates to Congress.
