Washington — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) announced it has endorsed Ammar Campa-Najjar in California’s 48th Congressional District.

“The son of a Palestinian immigrant and working-class Latina single mom, Ammar Campa-Najjar has served his country as a Navy Reserve Officer, as an educator and as an Obama administration official representing working families,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Pramila Jayapal, Greg Casar and Maxwell Frost. “If elected, Ammar will be the only Member of Congress who has lived in Gaza, where 30 members of his family, including children, have died. Ammar is running to restore war powers to Congress, dismantle ICE, cap prescription drug costs, implement Medicare for All, ban private equity from buying up homes and pursue a real pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and longtime residents. Ammar is the only candidate campaigning on a progressive agenda in this race and we steadfastly endorse his campaign.”

“I’m proud to stand with the Congressional Progressive Caucus against Donald Trump’s assault on our democracy and working families,” said Ammar Campa-Najjar. “This is personal to me as a Palestinian-Mexican American. I’m fighting to protect my family and CA-48 from a corrupt system that gave us Trump, ICE, endless wars and the largest transfer of wealth in history from the working class to the top 1 percent. It’s time to fix our system the way Trump broke it, not with half measures, but with a progressive agenda that will take on corruption head-on, unrig our economy and champion bold policies for everyday people.”

Over the past three election cycles, the CPC PAC has raised over $13 million and invested in progressive candidates across the country. Over the decade, a majority of CPC PAC’s pre-primary endorsements have gone on to win their race in the general election. In 2024, the CPC was the only ideological caucus to send new members to Congress in 50% or more of races in which its affiliated PAC made a pre-primary endorsement.
