Washington, D.C. – March 7th, Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC), the political arm of the 77-member Congressional Progressive Caucus, congratulated Democratic Party nominee Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and runoff frontrunner Gina Ortiz Jones (TX-23) on their success in the first primary of the 2018 election cycle.

Drawing nearly three times the votes of her closest challenger, CPC PAC endorsee Veronica Escobar is one step closer to becoming the first Latina member of Congress from Texas. Through a strong ground game, genuine authenticity, and her wealth of experience, Veronica demonstrated that she is the candidate who will best represent the progressive values of Texas’ 16th Congressional District.

Gina Ortiz Jones proved that she is the clear choice for the voters of Texas’ 23rd Congressional District. Outperforming every other candidate in the field, Gina nearly avoided a May 22nd runoff.  Building on this strong showing, Gina will continue to show she is the right candidate to take the fight to Will Hurd in November.

CPC PAC looks forward to providing continued support for these talented progressive candidates.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus is the largest values-based caucus in the House of Representatives.
