[WASHINGTON, DC] – June 24, 2020 – The Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC today congratulated Mondaire Jones for his victory in the Democratic Primary for New York’s 17th Congressional District.

CPC PAC Co-Chairs Mark Pocan, Pramila Jayapal, and Jamie Raskin released the following statement:

“While the final votes are still being counted, Mondaire Jones’ lead makes it clear that he will be the Democratic Party’s nominee in New York’s 17th Congressional District. Mondaire ran on an unapologetically progressive vision that includes criminal justice reform, Medicare for All, and a Green New Deal. In Congress, Mondaire will take on corporate special interests and fight on behalf of working families in New York. We are thrilled to have supported Mondaire’s historic campaign, and look forward to welcoming him to Congress.”

The Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC was the first group to launch ads supporting Jones, spending nearly $200,000 as part of the CPC PAC’s first-ever independent expenditure campaign.

The investment was part of a new effort by the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC to back endorsed candidates running across the country.

Days before the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC’s IE spending began, public polling showed Jones in fourth place, before surging to victory in the closing weeks.

CPC PAC will continue to provide support for Jones in the general election, and looks forward to welcoming him as a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC in the next Congress.
