Washington, D.C., August 8, 2018 – Following last night’s primary election wins, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) – the political arm of the 78-member Congressional Progressive Caucus – today congratulated CPC PAC endorsed candidates Lisa Brown in Washington’s 5th Congressional District and Andy Levin in Michigan’s 9th Congressional District.

“From Michigan to Washington, Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC endorsed candidates continue to enjoy strong support in the 2018 election cycle. With victories last night, Lisa Brown and Andy Levin are building the blue wave that will take back the House of Representatives and allow us to enact policies that will support the middle class and build an economy for all,” said Rep. Mark Pocan, Co-Chair of the CPC PAC. “We need bold, progressive ideas and leaders who aren’t afraid of a tough fight. Lisa and Andy are the kind of voices we need on Capitol Hill and I’m excited to continue supporting their candidacies as we move towards the general election in November.”

As chancellor of Washington State University Spokane, Lisa Brown has led initiatives to expand health care where it’s needed most across Eastern Washington. Her work to ensure that more Washingtonians get the affordable care they need comes after she served in the Washington House of Representatives and the Washington Senate. During her time in the legislature, Brown fought for investments in areas like public schools and infrastructure, while leading on issues like marriage equality and job creation. Brown will bring her lifelong commitment to public service to Capitol Hill and make a difference for people in Washington and across the country.

Andy Levin will be a strong, consistent voice for working families in Congress, and will bring the integrity and the bold ideas needed to restore the dignity and value of work and defend the rights of all. Levin has spent decades fighting and winning battles for the middle class, both inside and outside of government. A lifelong Democrat, he has a strong track record of accomplishments that have improved the lives of Michiganders and people across the country. He is ready to take the fight for working people to the halls of Congress.

CPC PAC will continue to provide support for Brown and Levin, and looks forward to welcoming them as members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus – the largest values-based caucus in the House of Representatives – in the 116th Congress.
