Washington — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) congratulated Daniel Biss on winning the Democratic nomination for Illinois’s 9th Congressional District.
“We are elated to congratulate Daniel Biss on winning the Democratic nomination to represent Illinois’s 9th congressional district,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Pramila Jayapal, Greg Casar and Maxwell Frost. “Daniel overcame over seven million dollars in outside spending to win this race, including well over a million dollars in direct attacks from a dark money shell PAC. Daniel won this race by relentlessly campaigning on a progressive agenda focused on Medicare for All, standing up against ICE and mass deportations, and restricting weapons transfers to Israel, all while calling out the influence of AIPAC and Republican-backed Super PACs in Democratic primaries. Daniel utilized his deep ties to the district through decades of service to Illinois as an educator, activist, legislator and as a mayor to build a broad and diverse coalition of local and in-district support. We look forward to supporting Daniel in his general election campaign and seeing him join our Caucus in January.”
The Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC invested $550,000 to support Biss and Medicare for All PAC’s independent expenditure arm invested $100,000 in support of his campaign.
Over the past three election cycles, the CPC PAC has raised over $13 million and invested in progressive candidates across the country. Over the decade, a majority of CPC PAC’s pre-primary endorsements have gone on to win their race in the general election. In 2024, the CPC was the only ideological caucus to send new members to Congress in 50% or more of races in which its affiliated PAC made a pre-primary endorsement.
