Washington — Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) congratulated Aisha Wahab on finishing first in the primary for California’s 14th Congressional District.

“We are proud to congratulate California state Senator Aisha Wahab, the first Afghan-American woman elected to any public office in the United States, on her first-place finish in the primary for California’s 14th Congressional District,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Pramila Jayapal, Greg Casar and Maxwell Frost. “Aisha ran on her impressive record of fighting for tenant rights, expanding health care access, and taking on corporate monopolies and powerful special interests. Her proven history of achieving results for working-class Californians helped her advance despite millions of dollars in outside spending flooding the race on behalf of her opponents. In Congress, Aisha will be a bold progressive leader working to advance Medicare for All, expanded union rights and a Green New Deal. We look forward to supporting her in the general election and electing her to Congress.”

Over the past three election cycles, the CPC PAC has raised over $13 million and invested in progressive candidates across the country. Over the decade, a majority of CPC PAC’s pre-primary endorsements have gone on to win their race in the general election. In 2024, the CPC was the only ideological caucus to send new members to Congress in 50% or more of races in which its affiliated PAC made a pre-primary endorsement.
