WASHINGTON — Today the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) announced its endorsements of Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03), Maxine Dexter (OR-03) and Nellie Pou (NJ-09).

“The youngest woman ever elected to the Phoenix City Council and the first Iranian-American ever elected to public office in Arizona, Yassamin Ansari is a trailblazer whose dedication to preserving a habitable planet took her from serving on the climate team at the United Nations to leading on the creation of Phoenix’s first Climate Action Plan,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Mark Pocan, Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin. “Throughout her campaign, Yassamin has championed progressive causes like ensuring full reproductive freedom, Medicare for All and universal access to safe, stable and affordable housing. Yassamin is a principled and talented legislator and we are proud to endorse her campaign to represent Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.”

“I will always fight for progressive policies that prioritize working Americans above corporate interests — in the pursuit of an economy that works for everyone, real climate justice, immigration reform, and affordable housing and health care for all,” said Yassamin Ansari. “That’s why I’m honored to be endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC and look forward to joining the Caucus when I get to Congress.”

“As a two-term state legislator and critical care physician, Dr. Maxine Dexter is a committed public servant with a long history of improving the lives of her constituents and neighbors,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Mark Pocan, Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin. “In the Oregon legislature, Maxine worked to expand abortion rights, close gun law loopholes, and, as chair of the Housing and Homelessness Committee, increased addiction treatment options and passed historic legislation to tackle homelessness. In Congress, she will be a committed advocate on those issues and other progressive causes such as working to ensure high-quality schools, investment in mental and behavioral health resources and a Green New Deal. Maxine is an experienced and proven progressive and we look forward to working with her in Congress.”

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC,” said Maxine Dexter. “I look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with the Progressive Caucus in the fight to expand access to quality affordable health care including abortion, rebuild a fair economy with opportunity for all and tackle our climate crisis. There has never been a more consequential time to protect our democracy and uplift working families and I’m proud to work with the Congressional Progressive Caucus during this critical moment.”

“The first woman and the first Hispanic legislator to represent her district in New Jersey, state Senator Nellie Pou has served her community for over 20 years in the legislature and, if elected in November, will be the first Latina ever to represent New Jersey in Congress,” said CPC PAC Co-Chairs Mark Pocan, Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin. “Nellie has dedicated her life to her community, advocating for working families, access to quality health care and promoting equal opportunity by supporting and improving our public schools. In Congress, she is committed to criminal justice reform, defending civil rights, protecting workers, reducing the racial wealth gap and standing up to powerful interests on behalf of regular Americans. We eagerly look forward to Nellie bringing her experience to Washington where she will continue to be a strong advocate for her constituents.”

“Quality health care, a fairer tax code and combatting climate change are important priorities for the Ninth District. That is why I appreciate the endorsement of the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC,” said Nellie Pou. “In the House, I look forward to fighting with CPC members to take on corporate greed, lower costs and provide economic security for our working families.”

The CPC PAC, the political arm of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, exists to elect strong progressive leaders to Congress who share our vision for America’s future and will embody the present and future of the progressive movement.
